The other day, Carissa was asking Travis for a jellybean or something, and she forgot to say please. He said she could have one but she had to say the ‘magic word’.
She briefly knotted her eyebrows, smiled, and out popped ‘Meeska Mooska Mickey Mouse!’
These of course are the magic words from the Playhouse Disney cartoon Mickey Mouse Clubhouse that Mickey says when he wants the clubhouse to appear. We also get her to say these ‘magic words’ when we set up her Mickey Mouse bounce house.
I absolutely cannot wait to take her to Disney World next year!
PS: Carissa got her jellybean.

Carissa enjoyed seeing the Easter bunny at the Pearland Easter Egg Hunt! She also found 54 eggs at the Cherry house on Easter morning (along with some other various "loot" the Easter bunny left behind.) Then she got to go to Pa & Grandma's house and find even MORE eggs... and lots of bouncing in her Mickey Mouse bounce house.

Everybody do the Bunny Hop!

YeeHaw Ya'll!
The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo comes to a close today. Travis and I got to see several performances this year, but the best time was yesterday when we got to take Carissa with us to spend some quality time with the animals.
The first thing on our day of fun and excitement was a ride on the train. There is no public parking on site at the rodeo, and the only option is to take a bus from about four different locations around the city (for a fee of course). The buses aren’t that bad going in, but coming home is a completely different story. We, therefore, choose to park downtown at my office garage and ride the Metro-rail down to Reliant Park. Knowing Carissa’s penchant for trains, this of course is no problem with her.
When we got to the rodeo, the items on Carissa’s list to see were ponies, rabbits, cows, pigs, and…. trucks. We walked the carnival and made our way over to the Ford area. Carissa liked the trucks that where hanging in the air and especially liked the vroom, vroom noise that Ford had pumping out into the crowd with smoke.
At the stock show, they have a kid’s area called AgVenture. You basically walk around, see the animals, learn what they do, and how they live. Throughout the area, you collect trading cards that depict the different animals in the arena. The cards are illustrated cartoon animals with such names as Lil Peep, Pilot Baa-Baa, Billy Bronco, Pecos Pig, Professor Goatius, Rowdy Rabbit, Miss Chick-A-Dee, Coach Bovine, Miss Moo, and Betty Bee. It was pretty cute and a nice set-up for the kids. Carissa, of course, collected them all.
Also at the AgVenture, Carissa got to pet a rabbit, see hatching eggs, talk to a pig, and see some really big cows. The best part though was the pony ride. She ‘patiently’ waited in line for over thirty minutes to ride in a circle on a horse names Stogie. The gossip in the pony ring was that Stogie had knocked up the pony in front of him and found it unacceptable to be anywhere else then in the stall right behind her. At least he is being a responsible father.
But I digress… After the pony ride, we grabbed some good rodeo grub and headed into the stadium. Carissa enjoyed watching the grand entry fireworks, the ‘jumping’ horses and bulls, and especially the calf scramble. She started to fall asleep when Pat Green was about half-way through his set, so we left a little early to catch the train back downtown.
When we got back to the car, Carissa exclaimed ‘I had fun’ which makes it all worthwhile.

Cutest girl around, and that ain't no bull neither…

Dear Bounce-On-It,
Yesterday (Tuesday March 18), my husband and daughter were looking for something fun and special to do on their day together. I did some research on google and came across your website. What a great time they would have here, I thought to myself. Carissa loves to bounce and slide, it looked clean and new, was inside away from the rain, and it was relatively near our house. Most importantly, your site clearly advertised Toddler Time on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-12pm, which is perfect for my daredevil two-year-old and her protective father. They arrived, paid the admission fee, and headed to the bounce houses.
Once inside, looking around, my husband saw several children who were clearly not under the age of five. He did not worry too much about this as you do have several different bounce houses to choose from. If they stayed on their side, he and Carissa would stay on the other side. However, the crowd began to grow, and after our two-year-old was jumped on by an eight-year-old and pushed by a ten-year-old, he went back to the front and inquired about the website advertisement.
The attendant explained that they do indeed host Toddler Time on Tuesdays/Thursdays, but this being Spring Break week, they were relaxing their rules and, in fact, a daycare was on their way.
While I can understand and appreciate that during Spring Break week you have the opportunity to increase your profits with school-age children being out of school, there should have been a disclaimer on your site, a sign posted at the door, or at the very least the attendant should have explained up-front that that Toddler Time would not be held this week.
I’m sure you can understand and appreciate that it is not safe for toddlers to be in a bounce-house with school-age children who are roughhousing and have little to no supervision. My husband should have been offered a refund or at least a rain-check to return another day when they decided to leave after spending less than twenty minutes at your establishment.
In the future, please consider providing a disclaimer, a sign, or some other form of communication to your customers when you alter your advertised programs.
Best regards,
Carissa's Mom

Do you know the ‘six degrees of separation’ theory/game that basically says that everyone is connected to everyone else within six degrees of people? I had one of those moments today.
I enjoy reading Heather Armstrong’s blog www.dooce.com. She is kind of a pioneer in blogging and, in fact, gets sufficient traffic on her website that it generates enough advertising revenue to allow her (AND her husband) to ‘work’ from home. (See those links to the right over there? Click them please.)
Anyway, Heather is apparently good friends with a guy named Bill who blogs over at 12tutufondue.blogspot.com. And, Bill has a link to none other than Rita who blogs at www.bethcherry.com.
So, I am therefore connected to Dooce by four degrees which makes YOU connected to Dooce by five degrees. Doesn’t that just make your week? Yippee-ki-yea!
It is a small world here in Internet-land, huh?
