Ain't No Mo Green Beans!
Carissa turns six months old this week. She celebrated by starting off her week with a cup of green beans, her first non-formula / non-rice cereal meal. Her initial reaction was missed by the camera. It looked like she had bitten into a lemon. Beyond that face though, she soon decided that green beans weren't so bad after all.

If you can't watch the whole video... at least fast forward to the last ten or fifteen seconds so you can see Carissa's final review of green beans...

Jonda Turns 25 Again...
In case you blinked and missed it... Jonda turned 25, again. I think it is a yearly ritual now. I will forever be married to a 25 year old. Hey, it sounds good to me? Of course, when I'm 70, they'll be calling her a gold digger and me a cradle robber. Then again, I guess I would actually have to have gold for her to dig.

Anyway, we celebrated Jonda's birthday by vaccuuming up water from a faulty washing machine and eating take out pizza. Not much of a celebration huh? Well, what do you expect, we already threw you several 25th birthday parties!

Actually Jonda had a pretty good birthday. The money flowed in several nice cards, as Jonda prepares to have lasik next month. Cariss and Turtle bought her a nice pink robe, and she can now jam on her new Nano. All in all, I think she enjoyed her 25th this time around.

Happy Birthday Beautiful...

Carissa's First Astros Game
Carissa went to her first Astros game this past weekend. Actually she went to the World Series last year in mom's tummy, but this was her first "in person" appearance. We got free nose bleed seats from Reliant Energy since we were one of the first 300 to sign up for online billing. The seats actually weren't that bad... provided you had been mountain climbing recently.

Carissa did suprisingly well, until Hirsh pitched out of a jam in the third inning and the crowd went crazy. Then Carissa cried. And cried. She and I decided to take a walk around the stadium to see the sights. We ran into the Chik-Fil-A cow, and she caught one of their stuffed cow give-aways.

We returned to our seats, but Carissa was about ready to leave. Everyone complimented her on her Astros gear and how cute she was of course. All in all it was a successful first trip to Minute Maid, but I think we'll stick out the rest of the season at home in the rocker.

Airman Cherry
I got the call around 9 p.m. tonight to finally confirm that my little brother is now Airman Basic Cherry. The recruiters finally brain washed him enough to get him to sign the dotted line. Yet they failed to tell him about "recycling" in boot camp. I like how recruiters leave out the fine print... I hope Joe knows what he's getting into. I think he has a firm grasp of what he's doing, I just hope its everything that he wants and more.

I'm proud of my little brother. I think I will now start refering to him as G.I. Joe. I also hope he gets assigned to work on the avionics of the Osprey. That would be cool. He is hoping for avionics, and he is hoping for a German destination after his ATI school.

Anyway, he should find out his exact role and his boot camp start date in the coming weeks. More than likely he'll be headed for San Antonio sooner than later. I can't wait to see pictures of him in his birth control glasses. That and I wonder if he might be assigned the dubious honor of the "Latrine Queen." And if he'll have the testicular fortitude to walk the snake pit for a piece of pie.

Maybe when he gets back on the flip side, he'll have some new tips and tricks to drop into the old mustang on Western avenue.

At any rate, congratulations Joe... we wish you the best of luck.

p.s. Too bad I've already been honorably discharged, otherwise, I'd make you drop and give me 50.

The Whole Cherry Orchard
Forget the family tree, we have an orchard going on here! This tree goes back further than my great grandfather, all the way back to 1891. How do people come up with data like that...? It is not like they had SQL server or Oracle databases back then. I'm sure to get back that far, someone has done a LOT of work.

Lots of thanks to Janna again for providing the information and congratulations on your new niece! Janna also sent me another picture of my grandpa Jack, this one is of Robert Newberry (on the left) and grandpa from 1953. They're carrying the springs off of a car. Imagine that, my grandpa, working on a car. Sounds like someone else I know.

Just for grins, I've included another picture of that someone else from 1959... like father like son.
