Is it over already? Is anyone else as sick as I am of all the flyers, phone calls, and news about the election?
I swear, Travis and I get no less than three calls a night between 6pm and 9pm from politicians. (I will have to remember this for future reference and get caller ID for a few months before the election!) Our mailbox is stuffed everyday with political flyers for various offices. The only thing on the news is what outfit Sarah Palin is wearing or what Obama had for breakfast.
It is all very tiring and wasteful. And, we live in Texas! Probably one of the reddest states on the map! I can’t imagine what people are going through in the toss-up states like Virginia and Florida.
Especially if they didn’t have TIVO and couldn’t fast forward through the political ads…. Shudder….
(“PC” Disclaimer: I do understand and appreciate the value of my right to vote, the sacrifice of others that got me this right, and the fact that other people would love to have the right. I am just tired of the campaigning, posturing, and bs’ing of all the candidates, the “unbiased” media, the celebrities that add in their unwanted two cents, etc etc.)
Have you guys seen/heard this yet? A guy from the Howard Stern Show went out into Harlem and asked people who they were voting for. If they said Obama, he would ask some follow-up questions like the generalized example below. You get the picture.
General Example:
- Stern’s crony: “Who are you voting for?”
- Voter: “I am for Obama.”
- Stern’s crony: “And, how do you feel about Obama’s choice of Sarah Palin as a running mate?”
- Voter: “I feel great, she was an awesome choice for Obama.”
- Stern’s crony: “And, which of these Obama policies do you feel more passionately about – 1) His Pro-life stance or 2) His desire to stay in Iraq until the war is over”
- Voter: “I feel both are equally important.”
Oh geez….
On a serious note though, Travis and I did start watching this Frontline documentary the other night on PBS. We started it in the middle so I can’t really comment on the whole thing, but the parts I did see were very interesting. I would encourage you to take a look if you have time. It also comes on again in ‘real-life’ TV on Monday (and, of course, has been TIVO’d for our viewing pleasure).

Parker Ray Cherry made his grand entrance this morning at 7:58am EST. He weighed in at 7lbs 2oz, and is 21in long. He definitely has the Matula look! Veronica said he also has Grandpa Wood’s long torso and the skinny Cherry legs and long toes! He has dark hair, with a tinge of red (but not red-headed according to Joey).

Internet, please say a special prayer for my sister-in-law Loni and my nephew-to-be Parker. Loni is scheduled to deliver Parker via C-section first thing tomorrow morning.
Loni’s due date came and went last week, and we have all been “patiently” waiting for the notice that Parker was on his way. Now, the long wait is almost over, and the Cherry family will be happily welcoming in its newest member!
I’m personally convinced that Parker was just waiting for October 24 to arrive because that would make him a Scorpio versus a Libra. Check out the following traditional traits of the two signs:
Scorpio:
Determined and forceful
Emotional and intuitive
Powerful and passionate
Exciting and magnetic
Libra:
Diplomatic and urbane
Romantic and charming
Easygoing and sociable
Idealistic and peaceable
I think this little boy just might end up being a tad like his momma!
Details will be posted tomorrow as they are received.

I had the absolute best ice cream the other night. Read: The best ice cream. Ever. In my entire life.
Those of you who grew up in the great state of Texas know full well that no other ice cream in the entire world even comes close to Blue Bell.
No, you are absolutely positively wrong if you think otherwise. Wrong wrong wrong.
I have personally always been a cookies ‘n’ cream gal. That, or a couple of scoops of Homemade Vanilla with Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup from a can with a handful of pecans.
Mmmmm…..
Well, Blue Bell has a new flavor that has exceeded all of my wildest dreams. Oh. My. God. You would not believe the deliciousness.
It starts with a cinnamon flavored ice cream then goes on to a caramel praline swirl and finishes with chunks of… wait for it… Snickerdoodle cookies.
SNICKERDOODLE ICE CREAM!!! From Blue Bell!
Go and get you some today!
